DENTON - The UNT men's golf team will play a 10-tournament slate over the course of the 2022-23 season, including six spring events leading up to the program's final Conference USA Championship on April 24-28, in Texarkana, before moving to The American for the 2023-24 season.
The Mean Green will play four events in the fall, beginning with the Jim Rivers Invite in Ruston, Louisiana, on Sept. 11-13, before heading to Albuquerque 10 days later for The Tucker at the UNM Championship Course. Fans' one chance to see the team compete locally will come Oct. 2-4 at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas, and the Mean Green will close the fall schedule with a return trip to the Little Rock Invitational on Oct. 17-18.
UNT will open the spring schedule on Feb. 5-6 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, at The Hayt Invitational before a return trip to the Sunshine State on Feb. 11-12 at The Gator in Gainesville, Florida. A third February tournament will be at The Prestige in Palm Springs, California, on Feb. 20-22.Â
The team will play one event in March - the All-American Intercollegiate in Houston on March 20-21, before heading to The Aggie Invitational on April 8-9 in Bryan, Texas. The Mean Green will wrap up the regular season with a trip to Davis, California, for the El Macero Classic on April 14-16.
"We always have a strong schedule, but I feel like this year is more balanced," head coach Brad Stracke said. "I like the variety of courses we play that will cover the East, Central and West regions."
The Mean Green return several key contributors, including the last two seasons' stroke-average leader in Vicente Marzilio and fellow juniors Diego Prone and Tucker Allen, along with fifth-year veteran Lenny Bergsson. They will also welcome three newcomers in transfer Cody Winkler (ULM) and freshmen Simon Roessler and Philippe Thorin.
