DENTON - The UNT swimming and diving team will be the first Mean Green program to enter The American as it begins the 2022-23 season next month before hosting two meets and competing in The American Championships in Dallas, head coach Brittany Roth announced on Wednesday.
The team will kick off the season on Sept. 24, as the swimmers will head to the Sam Freas Invite in Edmond, Oklahoma, before the annual Green vs. White meet on Oct. 1. Both swimming and diving will travel to the Land of Enchantment for meets at New Mexico State and New Mexico on Oct. 7 and 8, respectively, before the divers head to Houston for the Houston Diving Invite on Oct. 14-15.
The Mean Green will host its first meet on Nov. 4, against Little Rock, before the midseason championships at the Phil Hansel Invite in Houston on Nov. 17-19. The team will host Senior Night on Jan. 27, against Big 12 foe Iowa State, before taking its first shot at The American Championships in Dallas on Feb. 14-18.
"It's an exciting year for Mean Green Swimming and Diving," Roth said. "We are the first UNT program to enter The American, and this season will be stacked with opportunities for challenge and growth in our pursuit and preparation for the championship."
