Men's Golf Trio Set For LAAC

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico - Three UNT men's golfers will compete this week in the Latin America Amateur Championship with a chance to gain exemption into The Masters and The Open Championship on the line.
Junior Vicente Marzilio will look to build on his showing in the event last year when he finished as the runner-up and earned tickets to the final stage of qualifying for both The Open Championship at Royal Liverpool and the U.S. Open Championship at Los Angeles Country Club. Marzilio will be joined by countryman and classmate Diego Prone and freshman Philippe Thorin, from Ecuador, who also competed in the event last year shortly after signing with UNT.
The winner of the event earns an invitation to compete in the 2023 Masters, and exemptions to compete in The Open Championship, The Amateur Championship and the U.S. Amateur, as well as an exemption to the final stage of qualifying for the U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club.
The event will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2, beginning with Round 1 and 2 coverage on Thursday and Friday, respectively, from 8-11 a.m. On Saturday, Round 3 coverage will be on ESPN News from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., while final round coverage on Sunday will be back on ESPN2 from 9 a.m.-noon.
