TALLAHASSEE, Florida – UNT wide receiver Ja'Mori Maclin was added to the watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced Wednesday.
Maclin is having a career year for the Mean Green and leads the American Athletic Conference in yards, touchdowns and yards per reception. The Missouri native has caught 33 passes for 658 yards (ranks 15th in FBS) and nine touchdowns (tied for fourth in FBS) in seven games. He is the only player in FBS to have a touchdown reception in every game his team has played this season. Maclin has three games with 100-plus yards and his 94.0 receiving yards per game rank 13th in FBS.
The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the college football season's outstanding FBS receiver. Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back and running back) who catches a pass is eligible for the award. As such, the Biletnikoff Award recognizes college football's outstanding receiver, not merely college football's outstanding wide receiver.
The semifinalists, finalists, and award recipient are selected by the highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, Biletnikoff Award winners, and other former receivers. Foundation trustees do not vote and have never voted. For a list of voters, please see BiletnikoffAward.com/voters.
The Biletnikoff Award candidate eligibility and voting criteria, transparently explicit and detailed, are available for review at BiletnikoffAward.com/criteria.
Recently, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation opened the 2023 FanVote. Every fan may vote once daily on the Biletnikoff Award FanVote page. The aggregate fan tally will be counted as one official vote to determine semifinalists, finalists (three receivers) and the winner.
Semifinalists will be announced on Nov. 20, when Maclin will look to join former UNT receivers Jaelon Darden (2020) and Casey Fitzgerald (2008) as former Biletnikoff semifinalists.
