TUPELO, Mississippi — The UNT men's basketball travels to Tupelo, Mississippi on Sunday to face the Mississippi State Bulldogs at the Cadence Bank Arena.
The game is scheduled to tip-off at 3 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on the SEC Network+ and the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield.
It's the fourth all-time meeting between the two schools with the most recent matchup occurring in 2020. North Texas senior guard Rubin Jones is the only active Mean Green player who played in the previous meeting. A then freshman, Jones had a breakout performance the last time these two teams met as he scored a team-high 14 points and knocked down four 3-pointers.
Both North Texas (5-4) and MSU (8-2) feature one of the nation's top defenses this year. They each rank in the top 35 in both scoring defense and defensive efficiency. UNT owns the nation's No. 4 scoring defense.
Mississippi State enters Sunday's contest with eight wins including over Arizona State, Northwestern, Tulane and Washington State. The Bulldogs are currently slotted No. 40 in the NCAA NET ranking. Last season, MSU went 21-13 and reached the NCAA Tournament as an 11 seed.
Following Sunday's game in Tupelo, the Mean Green return home to face UT Arlington on Dec. 23 at 1 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield.
