Men's Hoops Faces Wisconsin In NIT Semifinal

The UNT men's basketball team faces Wisconsin Tuesday in the semifinal of the 2023 National Invitation Tournament in Las Vegas at the Orleans Arena.

Tuesday's semifinal game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN, the Mean Green Sports Network and the Westwood One.

The NIT semifinal will be the first time North Texas (29-7) and Wisconsin (20-14) have met in program history. Last time UNT played a Big Ten team was in the 2021 NCAA Tournament when they upset Purdue in the first round, 78-69.

The Mean Green advanced to the semifinal round after a 65-59 overtime victory at Oklahoma State last week. Senior Tylor Perry scored 23 points in the win. The win was North Texas' 10th NCAA postseason victory under Grant McCasland. Prior to McCasland's arrival in 2017, the Mean Green had never won an NCAA postseason tournament game.

Moulaye Sissoko recorded his first career double-double with a personal-best mark of 12 points and 15 rebounds at Oklahoma State. He finished 6-for-9 from the field and added a steal.

If North Texas defeats the Badgers Tuesday, they will play the championship game on Thursday at 8:40 p.m. CT on ESPN 2 and the Mean Green Sports Network.
