PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - The UNT women's golf team began its quest at a Conference USA three-peat on Thursday at PGA National and is in the lead at the end of a day that saw two separate weather delays and play suspended due to darkness before several groups were able to finish the opening 18 holes. The two weather delays totaled two hours and 45 minutes before play was eventually stopped at 6:42 p.m.
The final pairings, which include UNT, Western Kentucky and UTSAÂ were the only teams not to finish the first round. They will resume Round 1 on Friday beginning at 7 a.m. Round 2 will begin at the originally scheduled time with the first teams teeing off at 9:27 a.m. UNT will again be paired with Western Kentucky and UTSA for the second round.
UNT's five golfers are set to resume the first round on holes 15-18, with Audrey Tan on the 15th hole. Â
As things stand heading into Friday's early morning conclusion of the opening round, UNT is 4-under par and two shots up on Western Kentucky, which is 17 shots up on third-place FIU and Middle Tennessee.
The Mean Green were led on Thursday by Ellie Roth and Patricia Sinolungan, who are tied for third at 2-under par, after Roth had four birdies and Sinolungan had a short putt for eagle on the par-5 third hole. Emilie Ricaud sits at 1-under par alone in fifth place, while Audrey Tan is tied for sixth at 1-over.
