DENTON — UNT soccer head coach John Hedlund announced the signing of veteran transfer goalkeeper Maddie Ogden on Tuesday to the 16-time conference champion Mean Green roster.
Ogden comes to North Texas with four years of experience under her belt. She most recently started in goal for Colorado State last season where she shutout opponents such as San Diego State, Boise State and UMKC. Prior to her one-year stint with the Rams, Ogden spent three seasons at Monmouth where she helped lead the Hawks to two conference championships and the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
During her time at Monmouth, Ogden owned a .777 winning percentage while in net for the Hawks.
In addition to her athletic success, Ogden has been a standout student. She was named to the 2021 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
Ogden joins a Mean Green soccer recruiting class that includes 15 newcomers to next season's roster. She is the seventh of which that is a transfer. In addition to now Colorado State, UNT has added transfers from Oklahoma, Baylor, Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Coastal Carolina to its roster.
Ogden is also joining a Mean Green soccer program that is entering a new era as they will move to the American Athletic Conference next season. In 10 seasons in Conference USA, UNT soccer won eight conference championships, which is more than any soccer program in the league's history.
Under Hedlund, the program's only head coach ever, the Mean Green have won 16 total conference championships, never had a losing season and have won over 70 percent of all their matches in their 28-year history.
