DALLAS - UNT junior Vicente Marzilio followed up his NCAA Regional bid last week with another honor, as he was named to the First Team on the All-Conference USA team for the third consecutive year, the league announced on Monday.
Marzilio was joined on the team by two teammates, as junior Tucker Allen was named a second-teamer and freshman Alvaro Roldos was selected to the All-Freshman Team.
Marzilio posted a team-best 72.09 scoring average this year with seven top-25 finishes in 11 starts this year and ended the season with three straight top-15 showings. He also earned C-USA Golfer of the Week honors twice this year and had a team and personal season-low round of 66 at the El Macero Classic, where he finished sixth.
Allen earned second-team honors to secure his first all-conference bid of his career. Along with Marzilio, he was named to the All-Tournament Team at the C-USA Championships and ended the year with 73.06 stroke average to go with three top-25 finishes, including a pair of top-10 showings to close his season. He was the only team member aside from Marzilio to play in all 11 events.
Roldos ended his freshman season with a 75.56 average in six tournaments played and had a season-best finish of T22 at the Aggie Invitational.
"I'm happy to see that the hard work Vicente, Tucker and Alvaro have put in has paid off," UNT coach Brad Stracke said. "I'm very proud of those guys."
Next up on Marzilio's schedule is the Norman Regional, which will be played at Jimmie Austin Golf Club on May 15-17. The top individual finisher at the event who is not on an advancing team will continue on to the NCAA Championship May 26-31 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
