Kexuan Zhou and Jasmine Adams become first players in program history to earn the honor
AUSTIN, Texas (May 9, 2023) – For the first time in program history, the UNT women's tennis program has had a pair of student-athletes earn Academic All-District honors as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) as senior Kexuan Zhou and sophomore Jasmine Adams both earned the distinct honor, the organization announced Tuesday.
Zhou and Adams earned the honor after meeting the criteria over posting impressive cumulative grade-point averages over 3.50 while being a starter or important reserve on the team.
Zhou finished her senior season in a big way, being tied for the team lead with 11 wins on the year. Her versatility shined throughout the season as she became the first player since 2006 to have at least one singles win on five different lines in one season.
Zhou has boasted an impressive 3.79 cumulative GPA while majoring in Psychology and minoring in both Criminal Justice and Addiction Studies.
Adams, meanwhile, went 9-6 on the year in singles play, spending the entire season exclusively at line one. A Second Team All-CUSA selection in doubles, she also teamed up with Matilde Morais to post nine doubles wins on the year.
In the classroom, Adams finished the year with a 3.66 cumulative GPA while majoring in Kinesiology.
Women's tennis had previously been a part of the women's at-large team until the 2022-23 season.
The Mean Green finished the season with 11 wins and advanced to the C-USA Tournament Quarterfinal for the sixth time in the last seven years.
