Men’s 8K begins at 8 a.m. CT, followed by the women’s 5K at 8:45 a.m. CT
DENTON, Texas – UNT cross country will compete in its biggest meet thus far in 2023 when the Mean Green travel to College Station, Texas, for the Texas A&M Invitational Friday at Watts Cross Country Course.
Â
"I'm pretty excited for it," UNT cross country coach Erik Stevens said. "On the men's side, it's the first time we're going to put a top seven together for the season. The first time getting our two seniors in there, so we're looking pretty strong. I'm excited to see what they're able to do tomorrow with the first 8K of the year. Then we're really looking to see how those freshmen get through their first 8,000 meters. If they can execute the plan that's put in place and feel pretty solid coming through it, then I know we're in a good spot.
Â
"On the ladies' side, we're a little banged up. We have a couple girls that ended up not making the trip due to illness. We'll still run a scoring five. It's going to be a little different than what I was hoping for. We should still get a solid result, especially with our three top girls. I'm excited to see what they can do if they execute the plan well."
Â
Competing for the Mean Green men's team will be Luke Canon, Mason Garner, Jake Johnson, Jake Meyering, Hardy Swann, Alan Proenza and Connor Bartek, while the women's team will be represented by Aditi Silwal, Tiblets Abreha, Trinity Trotter, Addison Sykora, and Marisa Jacober.
Â
The Mean Green will be competing against host Texas A&M, Arkansas (men), East Central University (Oklahoma), Houston, Oklahoma Baptist, Sam Houston, TAMU-Commerce, and TCU.
Â
The men's 8K will get things started at 8:00 a.m. CT, while the women's 5K will follow at 8:45 a.m. CT. Live results will be provided on flashresults.com.
