Soccer Signs TCU Transfer Jacqueline Barnes

DENTON — The 16-time conference champion North Texas soccer team and head coach John Hedlund announced the signing of defender Jacqueline Barnes on Wednesday.
Barnes a TCU transfer defender joins the Mean Green after playing in 17 matches for the Horned Frogs. The Spring, Texas, native heled lead TCU to two NCAA Tournaments, each time they reaching the Sweet 16. TCU averaged over 15 wins per season while Barnes was on the team.
Barnes is a 2021 graduate from Klein Oak High School. She played her club soccer with Challenge Soccer Club under the coaching of Pat O'Toole. She competed in the champions League ECNL Playoffs in 2019 and qualified for the ECNL playoffs in 2021before attending TCU. She was the captain of her club teams and at Klein Oak where she was a four-year letter winner for the Hurricanes earning all-district awards every year with a first-team distinction her sophomore and senior seasons.
Klein Oak reached the UIL 6A Playoffs three times. The only time they didn't make it was in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic. Barnes was named the team's offensive MVP her sophomore year.
She was an academic all-district honoree all four years and was an academic all-state recipient her senior year.
She joins North Texas with one year of eligibility remaining.
