Men's Basketball Finalizes Series With McNeese
10/1/2024 12:28:00 PM | Men's Basketball
The game will be the start of a home-and-home series, with McNeese making a trip to the Super Pit in 2026.
This will be the first time North Texas and the Cowboys have played one another since Dec. 9, 2017, when the Mean Green beat McNeese 85-47 in Denton. The two schools were conference mates in the Southland from 1982-96.
UNT leads the all-time series history 20-17.
The Cowboys went 30-4 last season and 18-0 in league games in their first season under head coach Will Wade who was a finalist for multiple national coach of the year awards. They defeated Michigan, UAB and VCU during the regular season. They reached the NCAA Tournament as a 12-seed and faced Gonzaga in the first round. They fell 86-65. It was their first trip to the Big Dance since 2002 and only the third time in program history they made the NCAA Tournament.
