DENTON - The UNT divers will compete in the Houston Diving Invite on Friday and Saturday in their second competition of the season after a stellar showing last weekend in New Mexico.
The team took eight top-3 spots in two meets last weekend at New Mexico State and New Mexico, while competing in both the 1- and 3-meter springboard events, but this will mark the season debut on platform and in the team diving event, in which UNT took a silver medal at last season's AAC Swimming and Diving Championships.
The event will include UNT, Houston, Rice and Little Rock, and the teams will compete in both springboard events on Friday and both the platform and team diving events on Saturday.
"The Houston Diving Invite is always a meet we really enjoy," said associate head coach/diving coach Stephanie O'Callaghan. "It's a great way to see where we're at going into the second half of fall. It's also a great opportunity to get some training and competing in on tower. It's a busy, grueling schedule but a great opportunity for experience in that invite format before we have a few larger invites later on in November. It's a familiar place with familiar people allowing us to have fun while we stay focused on consistency and what we've been working on in practice. We will also get to do the team event, which has been such a great addition in the diving world."
