Women’s Basketball Looks to Bounce Back at ACU
11/15/2024 9:24:00 AM | Women's Basketball
DENTON, Texas – UNT women's basketball will look to get back into the win column on the road Saturday at Abilene Christian. Tip off is set for 12 p.m. CT from Moody Coliseum.
The Mean Green suffered their first loss of the season Tuesday at No. 25 Oregon. North Texas struggled offensively shooting just 24% from the field in the 66-35 loss to the Ducks.
Saturday's contest is an opportunity to return to course against an Abilene Christian team that is 2-1 on the season, but coming off a loss to SFA. The Wildcats are averaging nearly 80 points per game this season, in large part due to their willingness to shoot from beyond-the-arc. ACU averages the 10th-most 3-point attempts per game in the country, having shot no less than 24 in each of their three games this season.
That could play into the hands of the Mean Green who have limited opposing teams to 21.7% from deep this season.
UNT will also look to get Tommisha Lampkin going again after having her streak of four consecutive double doubles dating back to last season snapped in the loss to Oregon. Lampkin was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Nov. 11 after posting double doubles in each of the Mean Green's first two games of the season.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and can be heard on Varsity Sports Network with Zac Babb on the call.

• Following Jaaucklyn Moore's 20-point performance against Texas Southern, UNT is the only team in the country with four different 20-point scorers this season.
