Sparks Notches Career Day in Softball Win

TUCSON, Ariz. – Tatum Sparks recorded a career high four RBI as RV UNT softball collected a 12-2 win in five innings over Lipscomb on Sunday at Hillenbrand Stadium.
The Mean Green (2-2) finished the Candrea Classic on a high note by reaching double-digit runs for the first time since March 19, 2023. Starting pitcher Skylar Savage (W, 1-1) held the Bisons (1-3) to two hits over 5.0 innings with four strikeouts and two earned runs.
Savage opened the game by striking out the side in the opening frame. North Texas then built a five-run first inning which was highlighted by a pair of two-RBI doubles from Molly Rainey and Kalei Christensen.
The offense carried over to the second inning when Lexi Cobb drove in Kat Ibarra on a double down the right field line. After Rylee Nicholson singled, Sparks followed with a two-run single to push the Mean Green advantage to 8-2.
In the fourth, Nicholson collected her third stolen base to match the single-game program record. She would score on a double from Sparks that caromed off the top of the left-center field wall. Freshman Madison Conley tallied her first career hit with a single and later scored her first run in the inning.
UP NEXT
UNT holds its home opener at the Tracy Beard College on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. against Missouri. The tournament will begin on Friday as the Tigers meet Texas A&M-Commerce at 11 a.m. Fans can purchase individual day passes HERE.
