2/16/2024 10:19:00 AM | Women's Basketball
DENTON, Texas – UNT women's basketball (19-5, 9-3 AAC) will host UTSA (12-11, 6-6 AAC) looking to avenge a loss from earlier in the season Sunday at 2 p.m. CT inside The Super Pit.
UNT has a chance to set more program history on Sunday. A victory would mark the 20th win of the season, a mark the program has only reached three times before. It would also set a new record for most regular-season wins in program history.
The Mean Green joined four other UNT teams at 19 wins in its 67-57 win over Florida Atlantic Wednesday. North Texas completed a season sweep of the Owls, led by Tommisha Lampkin's double double. With her third double double in-a-row, the senior center is tied for the most double doubles in conference play with six against AAC opponents.
UTSA enters Sunday's game after dropping its last game to Tulsa on Wednesday. The Roadrunners recently got a boost to their lineup with the return of Jordyn Jenkins. The 2023 Conference USA Player of the Year, Jenkins has scored 11 points in UTSA's last two games.
Jenkins adds more size to a lineup that provided UNT some issues in the first meeting between the teams on Jan. 31. The Roadrunners held DesiRay Kernal and Tommisha Lampkin to a combined 12 points on 3-of-23 shooting, while Idara Udo posted a double double leading UTSA to a 75-67 overtime win in San Antonio.
Sunday's game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Kyle Youmans and Brian Burton on the call. The game can also be heard on the Varsity Sports Network with Zac Babb and Michelle Brooks.
