Softball Tops UTA in Midweek Meeting

DENTON, Texas – UNT softball defeated UT Arlington 5-3 on Wednesday at Lovelace Stadium after Jodie Epperson hit a tie-breaking RBI single in the sixth inning.
"Wins are tough to come by," head coach Rodney DeLong said. "That's one thing that we take for granted sometimes. A win is a win, and, at the end of the day, we got it done."
Saleen Donohoe delivered a 2-for-3, two RBI performance including her first career triple to cap a three-run third inning. The Mean Green (8-7) had three players collect multiple hits with Donohoe, Tatum Sparks and Madison Conley each recording two-hit efforts. UNT have now won 11 of its last 12 games against the Mavericks (3-13) at Lovelace Stadium.
McKenzie Wagoner (W, 4-1) tallied the victory after she entered from the bullpen with a base-loaded situation in the third inning. She escaped the frame with a strikeout and a spinning putout from shortstop Cierra Simon to end the threat from UTA. Wagoner finished with four strikeouts over 4.2 innings.

The Mean Green travel to Auburn for the Jane B. Moore Memorial at Jane B. Moore Field. UNT opens against South Carolina Upstate on Friday at 10 a.m. and RV Northwestern at 7 p.m.
