Wagoner Delivers Seven-Inning Shutout as Softball Splits

AUBURN, Ala. – McKenzie Wagoner spun a complete-game shutout as UNT softball defeated RV/RV Northwestern 7-0 on Saturday at Jane B. Moore Field. The Mean Green dropped its second game of the day 4-0 versus USC Upstate.
Wagoner (W, 5-1) tallied six strikeouts against the Wildcats (7-4) and recorded the fifth complete-game shutout of her career. She now sits fifth in the UNT record book for shutouts and first with a 1.74 career ERA.
The Mean Green (9-8) offense was highlighted by a pair of third inning solo home runs from Kailey Gamble and Mikayla Smith. With her 37th career home run, Gamble moved into sole possession of second place on the UNT career home run list. Smith added one of four doubles from the North Texas lineup to match the team's season high.
Saleen Donohoe recorded her third multi-RBI game of the season with a 2-for-4 performance which included one double.
Cierra Simon swiped her 40th career stolen base and sits 10 short of Kelli Schkade's (2015-17) all-time record of 50.
Skylar Savage (ND) threw 6.2 shutout innings in relief against the Spartans (7-7) in the second game of the Jane B. Moore Memorial. She recorded a season-high six strikeouts and allowed zero runs on five hits and one walk. Upstate rode a four-run first inning to its shutout victory.
