Tommisha Lampkin ties career high with 29 points in loss
TULSA, Okla. – Tommisha Lampkin's 29 points wasn't enough as the UNT women's basketball team dropped its second consecutive road contest to Tulsa, 79-74, Sunday inside the Reynolds Center.
Lampkin's point total tied a career high dating back to Feb. 18, 2023, and was her most in a game this season. She also added 13 rebounds for her sixth double double of the season.
In a back-and-forth game with 13 lead changes, it came down to a late fourth quarter run for the Golden Hurricane that gave them the edge.
After the Mean Green went on a 12-0 run to propel them to their largest lead of the game at 65-57 with 5:15 left, Tulsa's Delanie Crawford took over. The junior guard scored 10 of Tulsa's final 17 points in the final four minutes and had 31 total on the night.
North Texas had opportunities down the stretch to match Crawford but were held without a field goal for the final 3:25 except for a layup from Dyani Robinson with eight seconds to go. Sunday's game marked the first time this season North Texas lost when scoring 70 or more points. The Mean Green had been 16-0 when surpassing the mark leading up to this point.
Robinson had 12 points and five rebounds on the night, while DesiRay Kernal provided 15 points and nine boards. Crawford led the Golden Hurricane with Temira Poindexter adding 20 points.
With the loss, North Texas fell to 17-5 overall and 7-3 in American Athletic Conference play.
UNT will return to Denton looking to get back into the win column when it hosts SMU inside The Super Pit Saturday, Feb. 10 at 2 p.m.

Thoughts on the game:
"It was an incredible game between two high-level basketball teams. I thought how we guarded in the third quarter was the mentality we had to have the entire game. When you have a 10-point lead with five minutes left in the game you can't get comfortable. Tulsa is a really good team. I thought we battled and played well enough to win the game, it just didn't go our way today."
