DENTON, Texas – UNT women's basketball (17-5, 7-3 AAC) will host SMU (11-11, 5-6 AAC) in the second meeting of the season between the Metroplex foes Saturday at 2 p.m. inside The Super Pit.
The Mean Green return to Denton where they are 9-0 this season aiming to snap a two-game losing streak. UNT dropped close contests to UTSA and Tulsa on last week's road stand, while SMU enters Saturday's matchup winners in three of its last four games following the return of Chantae Embry.
In the previous meeting on Jan. 17, UNT handled the Mustangs, 76-61, claiming its first win in Dallas since 1989. Tommisha Lampkin and DesiRay Kernal paced the Mean Green recording double doubles, while SMU's Tiara Young was held to 4-of-10 shooting on the night.
The Mustangs have proven to be a different team since Embry's return on Jan. 20. After playing only six minutes in the first meeting, Embry has averaged 19.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game in the last five games for SMU.
Saturday's game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Doug Anderson and Brian Burton on the call. The game can also be heard on the Varsity Sports Network with Zac Babb and Michelle Brooks.
