Nformi Named AAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week

Sophomore from Douala, Cameroon, finished the week with a perfect record
DENTON, Texas – After a stellar performance on the court to help UNT to a perfect 3-0 record on the week, Stadfany Nformi was named American Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
Nformi posted a perfect record in both singles and doubles, including the match-clinching singles wins in contests against New Mexico State and Houston, to earn the honor for the first time in her career. Additionally, she is the first player in program history to be honored by the AAC.
Playing at line two singles, Nformi rallied from down one set to none in both of her singles contests of the week.
Against NMSU, Nformi fell behind 2-6 in the opening set, but was able to grab the next two and win the match 2-6, 6-4, 7-5.
The against Houston, Nformi rallied for a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 thrilling win over Houston. The match clinched the win over the Cougars to give UNT its first victory over a Big 12 Conference program since 2016.
Nformi was also perfect in doubles play, as she has been all season, playing at line one with teammate Olivia Halvorsen.
The duo started the week with a 6-3 win over NMSU and then picked up a thrilling 7-6 (10-8) win against Houston. They closed the week with a 6-2 victory over Collin College.
The Mean Green return to action Saturday when they travel to Tampa, Fla., to take on FAU at 11:00 AM.
