Four members of the UNT swimming & diving program were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District list, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance in the pool and in the classroom.
Seniors Diana Kolb, Brigid Krbec and Tram Nguyen and junior Shaena McCloud were all selected to the All-District list and McCloud advanced to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, which will be announced later this month.
McCloud has a 3.69 GPA in biomedical engineering and won the first swimming medal for UNT at the conference championship since the program joined The American. She scored the most points for the team at The American Championships. She also set three new school records this season and also led the team at the National Invitational Championship. Kolb had a 3.89 undergrad GPA and is carrying a 4.0 in her master's of science, kinesiology, and also represented UNT at the NIC in Florida. Krbec had a 3.85 undergrad GPA and has a 3.89 GPA in her master's of science, kinesiology. She helped UNT to a surprise silver medal in the Team Diving event at The American Championships and qualified for the NCAA Zone D Championship in the 1- and 3-meter springboard events. Nguyen has a 4.0 GPA in biochemistry and was a B-Finalist in the 200 butterfly.
"I'm proud of Diana, Shaena, Brigid and Tram for earning the All-District Award," UNT head coach Brittany Roth said. "To be successful both in the pool and the classroom really says a lot about the attitude, effort, and discipline each person puts into their time as a student-athlete."
