DENTON, Texas – The UNT women's tennis team and head coach Amanda Stone has announced the addition of standout Texas A&M transfer Gianna Pielet to the squad for the 2024-25 academic year.
Pielet arrives at North Texas with an impressive 24-9 singles record in dual matches in her career where she ranked as high as the #79 singles player in the ITA rankings in November of 2023. Overall, Pielet was 40-19 in singles play in her career across three seasons with the Aggies.
She was also a strong doubles player throughout her career, ranking as high as #43 in doubles with teammate Jeanette Mireles. In dual and tournament action in her career, Pielet posted a 48-28 record in doubles play.
Head coach Amanda Stone is excited for Pielet to begin her career with the Mean Green this fall.
"Gianna's bringing high level talent and experience that will push us farther in the direction we are going," Stone said. "She was heavily recruited, and we are thrilled that Mean Green tennis was her first choice. Just like our team, she's motivated and hungry. I can't wait to get this team back on the court and see what they can accomplish together."
In the 2022-23 season, Pielet helped the Aggies post an impressive 30-3 overall record, ranking as the No. 2 team in the country and advancing to the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinal. She collected an 11-3 overall record and finished 5-1 in dual match play in singles on the year while playing a pivotal role at No. 3 doubles all season amassing a 19-14 record.
