DENTON, Texas – UNT softball signed transfer pitcher/utility Anneca Anderson from Tulsa, head coach Rodney DeLong announced on Friday.
Anderson was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team after she posted an 8-6 record in the circle with 81 strikeouts and a 3.83 ERA. In conference play, the sophomore held opposing batters to a .170 batting average against for the second-lowest mark in the league.
She was a three-time AAC Honor Roll selection and spun seven complete games including a no-hitter versus UTSA on April 27, 2024. Anderson held the Mean Green hitless through 6 1/3 innings before Mikayla Smith (2021-24) hit a solo walk-off home run on March 23, 2024.
As a two-way player, Anderson posted seven hits over 28 at-bats with one home run and eight RBI at the plate and ended her freshman season on a three-game hitting streak.
Anderson will reunite with high school teammate Tatum Sparks after a four-year career at Shawnee High School in Oklahoma. The pair led the Wolves to the 2020 state tournament with Anderson collecting District 6A-3 Pitcher of the Year as a sophomore.
