Roebuck Earns Player of the Week, Major Honorable Mention Honor

DENTON — UNT Soccer senior Rachel Roebuck on Monday was named the American Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after scoring five goals over two matches. Junior defender Abi Major was named AAC Honorable Mention Player of the Week for leading the Mean Green to two shutout wins.

Roebuck scored a single-match career high four goals on Sunday to lead her North Texas side to a 9-0 win over Prairie View A&M — the sixth largest margin of victory in program history. After last week, Roebuck is now tied for the national lead in goals scored and leads the league in shots, points as well as goals.

This is the third-year UNT player's first offensive player of the week honor.

Major has played nearly every minute of the season for North Texas defense that is allowing fewer than 0.75 goals allowed per match so far. Major is also in her third year with the program and this is her first conference weekly honor of any kind.

Next up for UNT is its first road match of the year. The Mean Green travel to Texas A&M Commerce on Friday for a 7 p.m. CT scheduled first kick. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
