Soccer Travels To Incarnate Word Friday

First kick is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT and will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Mean Green (3-2-1) are 5-0-0 all-time versus UIW (1-2-2) and last played them in 2019 in San Antonio, UNT won 3-0. The two schools were supposed to meet last season in Denton but the match was canceled due to lightning.
In the five previous matches, the Mean Green have never conceded a goal to Incarnate Word. No active UNT player has played against UIW.
North Texas heads into Friday night's road contest coming off a 5-0 home victory over Southern. UNT freshman Claire Niedermeier scored a first-half brace, which gives her three goals on the season. Just six matches into the year and Niedermeier's three goals are the seventh most by a UNT freshman in the last 10 years.
Niedermeier and UNT senior Rachel Roebuck were named American Athletic Conference Players of the Week Honorable Mention on Monday. Roebuck had an assist in the five-goal win and leads all AAC players in points, goals and shots.
After Friday's contest the Mean Green return home to host Florida Atlantic on Sept. 12 in their conference opener. Fans who attend the match will receive Mean Green soccer support scarfs as a free giveaway.
