DENTON — Two of the top American Athletic Conference men's basketball teams meet Wednesday night at the Super Pit as UNT hosts Temple.
Tip-off between the Mean Green (13-4, 4-1) and Owls (12-6, 4-1) is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield and on ESPN+.
Through the first five games of league play, North Texas and Temple are tied atop the conference standings with 4-1 league records. This is the seventh straight season UNT has won at least four of its first five conference games.
The Owls are led by second-year head coach Adam Fisher. Last year Temple reached the championship game of the 2024 AAC Tournament. On the court they are led by senior Jamal Mashburn Jr. who is the son of NBA All-Star Jamal Mashburn. As of Tuesday he ranks 12th in the nation in scoring with 384 total points.
Both North Texas and Temple enter Wednesday on three-game winning streaks.
The Mean Green have yet to lose at home this season. It marks the second straight year they've opened the year by winning their first nine home games to a season. Wednesday will be just the second time the Mean Green and Owls have played. They met last season at the Super Pit with UNT winning 69-51.
Wednesday is the first of two consecutive home games for North Texas. They'll host Florida Atlantic on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
