Keen One Back of Lead After First Day of Everett Buick GMC Classic

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Blake Keen put together his best day of the fall season on Monday at the Everett Buick GMC Classic where the sophomore shot 10-under par over two rounds of play.
The 2024-25 All-American Conference honoree looked the part, posting rounds of 66 and 68, his two best scores of the season. After starting on the fourth hole, an eagle on the ninth jumpstarted Keen's first round. A pair of birdies on the back nine and then two more on the first and third holes to end the round put him tied for fifth after 18 holes. He added five more birdies and two eagles during the afternoon round to move up to second on the leaderboard and trails Minas Manias (Lipscomb) by one stroke.
The Mean Green backed up Keen's performance, especially in the second round where all four counting scores were even par or better. Following a 1-over-par 288 in the first round, North Texas shot 10-under par in the second round to finish the first day of action in sixth place within three shots of Southern Miss and Lipscomb who are tied for second.
Mitchell Maier's round of 69 during the afternoon session put him under par on the day and in a tie for 22nd place at 3-under par. Noah Blaickner also carded a 69 in the second round to jump to 35th place, while Alex Huang sits in 50th place after rounds of 75 and 72.
Junior Rafael Estrada had an impressive day in his season debut, posting an even 72 in his first round followed by a 2-under par 70 in the second round to land in 22nd place with 18 holes to play.
The Mean Green will tee off the third round from Chenal Country Club at 8:15 a.m. CT. Live scoring will be available throughout the day on Clippd.
