DENTON - The UNT swimming and diving team will compete in its midseason championship this week at the SMU Invitational, as the Mean Green will square off with Arkansas, Drury, Hawaii, SMU and Utah over the four-day event.
The schedule will mimic that of the conference championship with events spread out over the four days and nights, with finals being contested in the evenings beginning with the 200 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay on Wednesday night before more events are contested nightly beginning on Thursday.
"I'm looking forward to our Midseason meet in Dallas this week," head coach Brittany Roth said. "This meet is a great opportunity to put the pieces together that the team has been building throughout the semester. On the swimming side, the athletes have moved through three training cycles to put themselves in position to have their best performance of the semester. SMU has a great facility, and our team historically performs well there, so it will be a fun atmosphere and environment with a lot of great racing!"
On the diving side, the team will have a second chance in a week to compete on the Platform after making its season debut in the event last week in Austin.
"The last few weeks have been full, but this meet is a perfect tuneup for postseason," associate head coach/diving coach Stephanie O'Callaghan said. "We'll compete against strong programs and get valuable experience in the Zones-style format. It's another great tower opportunity and a chance for the team to show the growth we made from last few weeks."
