Mean Green Face Old Conference Rival Sunday

MOBILE, Alabama – The UNT men's basketball team hits the road Sunday to face an old Sun Belt Conference rival in South Alabama.
The Mean Green (7-3) and Jaguars (8-2) are scheduled to tip-off from South Alabama's Mitchell Center at 4:30 PM. The game will be broadcast on the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield on KHYI 95.3 FM and on ESPN+.
North Texas and South Alabama were in the Sun Belt Conference together from 2000 through 2013. Sunday will be the first time the two teams have faced one another since the Mean Green left the league following the 2012-13 season. USA has won 14 of the 22 all-time meetings but North Texas has won four of the last five.
Following Sunday's game in The Port City, the Mean Green will stay on the road as they will travel to the west coast to face Santa Clara in Santa Cruz, California, on Dec. 17.
FIRST SINCE 1975
UNT first-year head coach Daniyal Robinson has won seven of his first 10 games as the Mean Green head coach. The last Mean Green head coach to win at least seven of his respective first 10 games in his first season at the helm was Bill Blakeley 50 yeas ago. Blakeley coached the Mean Green from 1975-83. In his first season he won nine of his first 10 games as UNT's head coach and led the Mean Green to a 22-4 overall record that season.

Senior Dylan Arnett enters Sunday averaging 8.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.2 bpg and 1.1 spg. As of Saturday, he is one of just 11 players in the nation this season with that stat line or better.
LEADS THE AMERICAN
UNT junior David Terrell Jr. leads all American players with 53 assists and a 5.3 assist per game average entering Sunday's game.
SEASON HIGH IN SCORING
In UNT's most recent game, junior David Terrell Jr. scored a season high 16 points. He fell one point shy of his single game career high. His 16 points against TCU also led all scorers in the game. Terrell made two 3-pointers versus the Horned Frogs, it marked the first time in his career he had made multiple 3-pointers in a single game.
THE AMERICAN'S TOP SCORING DEFENSE
North Texas is holding opponents to 65.1 points per game. It's the best scoring defense among all American Conference teams and the 24th best in the nation as of Saturday.
CLOSING IN ON FATHER'S STATS
Reece Robinson enters Sunday 11 points shy of scoring more DI points than his father did. Daniyal Robinson, who went to junior college for two seasons before transferring to UALR in 1997 scored 236 points for the Trojans in two years.
