Men's Hoops Hosts Drovers For Final Non-Conference Game

DENTON – The UNT men's basketball team will host USAO on Monday for its final non-conference game of the year.
The Mean Green (8-4) and Drovers (5-8) are scheduled to tip-off at 1 p.m. CT from the Super Pit. The game will be broadcast on the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield and on ESPN+.
Monday will be the first ever meeting between North Texas and USAO.
Following Monday's game, the Mean Green will travel to Memphis on Dec. 31 to begin conference play.
SEVEN GAMES DECIDED BY THREE OR LESS
Seven of North Texas' 12 games so far this season have either been decided by three points or less or have gone into overtime. UNT is 5-2 in those games.
193 POINTS THROUGH 12 GAMES
Je'Shawn Stevenson has scored 193 points through UNT's first 12 games of the season. It's the most points a UNT player has scored through the first 12 games of a season since Roosevelt Smart scored 222 points over the first 12 games of the 2017-18 season. Smart set the UNT single season scoring record that year (744). Stevenson, Smart (2017-18), Tristan Thompson (2010-11) and Kendrick Davis (2005-06) are the only UNT players in the last 20 years to score 193 points through 12 games.
SIX STEALS VS SANTA CLARA
UNT guard Cole Franklin had a single game career high six steals on Wednesday versus Santa Clara. It's the most steals by a UNT player since Rubin Jones had six versus Towson on Nov. 19, 2023. As of Sunday, Franklin's six steals versus Santa Clara are the most by an American Conference player this season.
FORCED 21 TURNOVERS
On Wednesday UNT's defense forced Santa Clara into a season high 21 turnovers. It's the most turnovers UNT has forced a DI opponent into since forcing Mississippi Valley State into 22 turnovers on Nov. 26, 2020. It was the most turnovers UNT's defense has forced away from the Super Pit since Jan. 15, 2015, when they forced 23 turnovers at Charlotte.
