Sissoko recorded his fourth career double-double in the win as he also grabbed 11 rebounds. The senior has now recorded three double doubles this season.
With the win Wednesday, North Texas (19-6, 10-3) has now matched its overall and conference win total from last season. The 44 points UNT held Tulsa to is the fewest points the Mean Green have allowed to a conference opponent since March, 4 2023 when they beat Western Kentucky at the Super Pit 67-33.
The 44 points UNT held the Golden Hurricane (11-16, 5-9) to is the fewest Tulsa has scored all year.
"Tulsa had our full attention and respect going into tonight but I'm really proud of the defensive effort from start to finish," head coach Ross Hodge said. "I'm extremely proud of Moulaye and how far he's come and run his own race. He was incredible."
The Mean Green took a 30-19 lead to the locker room.
Tulsa mounted a brief comeback to begin the second half, cutting the deficit to five on an Isaiah Barnes 3-pointer followed by four quick points.
The Golden Hurricane kept the game within single digits before an Atin Wright jumper at the 8:24 mark of the second half extended the North Texas lead to 45-34.
From that point, the Mean Green took an 18-10 run to the victory, closing out their 13th home win, its most single season home wins in five seasons.
Wright scored 15 points on the night, going 2-6 from beyond the arc.
Wednesday night's win was also senior Matthew Stone's 94th win as part of the Mean Green program. No player in program history has been part of more wins than Stone.
UNT is back in action Sunday at South Florida. The game will tip-off at 11:00 a.m. CT.
