The Mean Green will host nationally ranked Texas Tech at 2 p.m. from Lovelace Stadium
DENTON, Texas – UNT softball will celebrate the 2025 home opener at Lovelace Stadium against No. 13 Texas Tech on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with streaming coverage on ESPN+.
The Mean Green (12-2) enter on a seven-game winning streak with double-digit hits in each of its past four games while the Red Raiders (15-3) have also won seven straight including 10 of its past 11 contests.
North Texas holds an all-time mark of 23-14 at home on opening day with five wins under head coach Rodney DeLong. Wednesday's game against Texas Tech will mark the 21st meeting between the two programs after the Mean Green fell in both contests last season.
Over the weekend, six UNT players hit over .450 led by junior Tatum Sparks with eight hits including two doubles and one home run. Sparks enters on a 21-game reached base streak which dates back to April 27, 2024, and is the longest active streak in all of Division I.
Cierra Simon and Skylar Savage were each named weekly American Athletic Conference Honorable Mention selections on Monday as Simon led the Mean Green with a 1.738 OPS and 14 total bases while Savage recorded two wins in the circle with a 1.91 earned run average.
For the duration of the 2025 season, fans are encouraged to utilize Walt Parker Road as the primary route to access parking near Lovelace Stadium as South Bonnie Brae Street will be closed at Airport Road.
