Tennis Takes Loss to Louisiana Tech

North Texas fell 4-3 in Ruston, La. on Saturday
DENTON — The UNT women's tennis team lost 4-3 to Louisiana Tech Saturday at the LA Tech Tennis Complex.
"First I have to give credit to LA Tech, they played hard and came after us," UNT head coach Amanda Stone said. "For our team it's a tough but necessary lesson — we need to learn how to consistently show up and compete. We didn't today as a team and they made us pay for it."
LA Tech (7-2) took the doubles point to begin the day, coming up with a 4-6 win at line one and a 5-4 win at line two.
Prior to the decisive Bulldogs point, Marina Adati and Lou Chalard won 6-3 at line three, improving their record as a pair to 3-3.
North Texas (3-3) tied the match early in singles play as Chalard took a 6-4, 6-2 win at line four. Olivia Malm quickly gave the Mean Green a 2-1 lead with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at line five.
Stadfany Nformi notably handed LA Tech singles win leader Zoie Epps her first loss of the season 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 at line two to give North Texas a 3-2 lead in the match.
Both decisive matches went to the Bulldogs as they won 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 1-6 at line three and 4-6, 7-6 (7-2), 3-6 at line one, respectively, to close the match.
UNT continues its road trip with a matchup versus Northwestern State (0-2) Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Jack Fisher Lady Demon Complex.
