North Texas captured the double points before losing four of six in singles play Monday.
DENTON — The UNT women's tennis team lost 4-3 in a neutral site match with No. 66 Fresno State at Northridge, California.
North Texas (6-7) continued its recent stellar doubles play in the match, winning its third consecutive doubles point.
Gianna Pielet and Marina Adati won 6-3 at line three for their first victory as a pairing before Stanislava Shulzhenko and Stadfany Nformi picked up a 7-5 win at line two to clinch the point.
The Bulldogs (8-4) took control of the match in singles play, taking wins at lines one and six to take the lead before extending its lead to 3-1 with a win at line two.
Shulzhenko then won 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 at line three for her seventh singles win of the season, good for second on the team.
Down 3-2 in the match, the Mean Green fought back, tying the match after Carolina Laydner picked up a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory at line five.
However, Fresno State closed the match with a 6-3, 3-6, 8-6 victory at line four.
North Texas finishes its time in Northridge, Calif. Tuesday at 4:00 PM CT versus CSUN.
