OCALA, Fla. - A select group of UNT swimmers will conclude their season this weekend at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship after earning qualifying standards throughout the season.
The Mean Green will take nine swimmers, who will all swim multiple events, including relays. The event begins Thursday and runs through Saturday.
Five swimmers - Kennedy Eichler, Diana Kolb, Shaena McCloud, Samantha Robles and Kailey Turner - will be competing for the Mean Green for the final time.
While divers won't be present at the meet, the Mean Green's five-person contingent at the NCAA Zone D Championships in Iowa City, Iowa, will see their scores count toward the UNT team score for this event. Sydney Guidara competed in all three events at Zones (1-meter springboard, 3-meter springboard and platform), while Mackenzie Ferguson competed in 1-meter, Valeria Hernandez Meza in 3-meter and Amelia Sharp in 3-meter and platform. Junior Kamryn Wong, the American Athletic Conference's Most Outstanding Diver of the Year, competed in the 1-meter and 3-meter and qualified for the finals of both.
"We're looking forward to heading back to Ocala, Florida, to represent UNT at the CSCAA National Invitational Championships," head coach Brittany Roth said. "This meet has been historically a great opportunity for our athletes coming off of a strong showing at the American Conference Championships.
