Swim & Dive Ends Year With Strong Showing at NIC

OCALA, Fla. - The UNT swimming and diving program ended its season with a strong showing at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship over the weekend, as they finished 13th in the team standings.
The Mean Green took nine swimmers to the meet and had several standout performances, highlighted by senior Shaena McCloud, who swam on four relays and finished 13th in the 50 freestyle (23.05), 12th in the 100 butterfly (54.33) and won the B-final of the 100 freestyle in 49.55.
The 200 freestyle relay team of Samantha Robles, Scarlett McCloud, Hollie Smith and Shaena McCloud were seeded 20th but finished 12th in 1:33.16, beating some Power Four programs like Duke, Kentucky, Arkansas and Ohio State. The 400 medley relay finished 14th, moving up from its 23rd seed, as Diana Kolb, Mikaela Goelst, Robles and Shaena McCloud finished with a time of 3:43.98. The 200 medley relay team of Kolb, Goelst, Robles and Shaena McCloud finished 10th in 1:40.95. The 400 freestyle relay team of Scarlett McCloud, Smith, Robles and Shaena McCloud finished 18th in 3:23.91 after Scarlett McCloud led off the race with a lifetime best 100 freestyle. The younger McCloud also had a lifetime best 200 freestyle leading off the 800 freestyle relay alongside freshman Jette Schindler and seniors Kailey Turner and Kennedy Eichler, which finished 25th.Â
Kolb, who was also swimming her final meet for the Mean Green, finished 16th in the 100 backstroke (54.59) and 18th in the 200 backstroke (1:58.29), while another senior, Kailey Turner, finished 19th in the 200 butterfly in 2:02.65.
The diving points were carried over from the NCAA Zone D Championships earlier in the week. The Mean Green were led by junior Kamryn Wong, whose score of 297.55 in the 3-meter springboard was good for fourth in the field, and sophomore Sydney Guidara, whose score of 264.80 in the 1-meter springboard was good for ninth in the field. Guidara's platform score of 210.40 was good for 11th.
