Softball Drops Midweek to No. 15 OSU

DENTON, Texas – UNT softball fell 10-2 against No. 15 Oklahoma State at Lovelace Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Mean Green (16-5) tied the game at 2-2 in the second inning before the Cowgirls (15-4) retaliated with four runs in the top half of the third. North Texas reached base nine times, including six walks for the second-highest mark of the season.

Freshman Ausha Moore lined a double off the left-center field wall in the third inning to advance her and Elizabeth Moffitt into scoring position. The pair scored two unearned runs after Madison Conley reached safely after OSU's right fielder misplayed a line drive.

Skylar Savage (L, 7-2) suffered her second loss of the season, both at the hands of Big 12 competition after she lost to Baylor on Saturday. Savage tallied the only strikeout of the night over two innings of work.

Anneca Anderson entered in relief and gave up zero runs on two hits from the third through fifth innings before she exited after three batters in the sixth. Kayleigh Smith spun the final two innings with zero earned runs on two hits.

North Texas open American Athletic Conference play against defending league champions Charlotte Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at noon from Lovelace Stadium on ESPN+.
