Track & Field Set for John McDonnell Invitational

DENTON, Texas — The UNT track and field teams will take part in the John McDonnell Invitational on Friday in Fayetteville in their penultimate regular season meet.
The one-day meet will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the women's discus throw and conclude with the women's 5,000 meters at approximately 8:30 p.m. CT. Track events will begin at 2:45 p.m. with the 4x100-meter relays. The John McDonnell Invitational will be streamed on SEC Network + with a start time of 2:45 p.m. CT. While the majority of the team is in Fayetteville, the Mean Green throwers will head to Austin to compete at the Texas Invitational Thursday and Friday. Live results for that meet can be found at pttiming.com.

"I'm excited to have the opportunity to compete at Arkansas this weekend. It's always good competition and the staff at Arkansas always does a great job hosting. We will take a smaller group to Arkansas this weekend but look to put together some good performances."
LAST TIME OUT
London Culbreath shined at the Michael Johnson Invitational, winning the women's 5,000 meters at the meet for the third straight year. Her time of 16:51.69 time broke the school record that had stood since 2017. Mackenzie Kuehl also performed well in the women's javelin, launching a throw 46.74 meters long to set a new career best and become the third-best performer in the event in program history. The Mean Green tallied nine top-10 finishes against a solid field of teams.
MEAN GREEN IN THE RANKINGS
- The UNT men's track and field team landed at No. 18 in the NCAA South Central Regional rankings this week.
- Led by C'Nai Childress and Trezeguet Taylor, the women's 100 meters position group was ranked No. 31 in the country by USTFCCCA. The hammer throw is the highest ranked event group on the men's side coming in at No. 40 this week.
- Jake Parchman currently holds the No. 20 ranking in the country in the men's hammer throw with his mark of 67.16 meters from the Raleigh Relays.
AAC ACCOLADES
- Parchman was named the AAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week on April 8, following his individual win in the hammer throw at the Bill Schmidt Invite.
- It is the first career conference weekly honor for Parchman and the second a UNT athlete has received in the 2024-25 year.
