Softball Evens Series, Anderson Stellar Over Seven

DENTON, Texas – Powered by a four-run sixth inning, UNT softball defeated South Florida 5-1 at Lovelace Stadium on Saturday to tie the American Athletic Conference series at one game apiece.
Tied 1-1 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, North Texas (34-15, 16-7) scored a quartet of runs including a pair of RBI doubles from Ausha Moore and Riley McNemar. Starting pitcher Anneca Anderson held USF (37-14-1, 16-6-1) to only one run, which was unearned, to mark the 10th time this season the Bulls have been held to one or fewer runs.
Anderson (W, 13-4) allowed only four hits over seven innings pitched for her seventh complete game of the season. She added three strikeouts, each in the top of the first inning.
Elizabeth Moffitt matched her career high with three hits and became the fifth player in program history with six or more three-hit performances in a single season, first since Lexi Cobb (2021-24) had six in 2022. Moffitt also scored one run and drove in one RBI on Saturday.
Cierra Simon collected her second multi-hit game of the weekend as she finished 2-for-4 with two RBI. In conference play this season, Simon has a hit in 22 of 23 games.
Simon plated the first run of the game with an RBI single to score fellow senior Emma Grahmann as North Texas broke its single season record for runs scored on the play. Entering Sunday's finale, UNT has 302 runs scored this season which ranks second place in The American behind Florida Atlantic at 322.
