Softball Drops UTSA In Five

DENTON, Texas – UNT softball tallied a 9-1 win over UTSA in five innings to open its American Athletic Conference series Saturday at Lovelace Stadium.

After the Roadrunners (15-20, 2-11) opened the scoring in the first inning, the Mean Green (26-12, 8-5) roared back with multiple runs in the bottom half of the first, second and third frames.

The offense matched its season-best mark in walks after it drew eight free passes as Cierra Simon, Madison Conley and Emma Grahmann each matched their respective career highs with two walks apiece.

Starting pitcher Skylar Savage (W, 12-6) recorded her eighth complete game of the season after she spun five innings with six strikeouts, allowing one run on four hits and two walks.

Riley McNemar registered her 10th multi-hit game of the season as she finished 2-for-2 with two RBI and scored UNT's first run of the game. Tatum Sparks collected two runs scored and two RBI with one hit and one walk while Simon drove in two RBI on a deep drive to left-center field in the third inning.

UP NEXT

North Texas closes its series against UTSA with a doubleheader Sunday which is scheduled to begin at noon with game three approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game two. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN+ and fans can purchase tickets HERE.
