Arneth Named Goalkeeper of the Week in American

IRVING, Texas - UNT junior goalkeeper Alina Arneth made her starting debut and earned her first career shutout in Thursday's 4-0 win over McNeese before earning the start and collecting three saves in a 1-0 loss at No. 20 Oklahoma on Sunday night, and on Monday morning the Hirschaid, Germany, native was rewarded with American Conference Goalkeeper of the Week honors.
"It's a well deserved honored," UNT head coach John Hedlund said. "I'm really proud of Alina's play this past weekend, and credit to Neal (Ozmun), our goalkeeper coach, as well."
Arneth, who transferred from Motlow State College, made her Division I debut in last weekend's win at Prairie View A&M before earning her first start on Thursday, when she made two saves to earn the clean sheet over McNeese. On Sunday night in Norman, Oklahoma, her strong play continued when she allowed just one goal to the 20th-ranked team in the country that entered the night averaging 3.8 goals per match.
Graduate defender Rachel Roebuck also earned Player of the Week Honorable Mention after playing 90 minutes in both games and anchoring the Mean Green's back line while allowing just one goal over two games. Roebuck has played 90 minutes in all six matches this season and leads the team with three assists.
