DENTON - The UNT soccer team will open up American play on the road Thursday night, as the Mean Green are set to take on rival UTSA after wrapping up non-conference play over the weekend with a northeast road trip to Army and NJIT.
The Mean Green (4-5-1) are coming off a 1-1 draw at NJITÂ in which senior forward Summer Brown scored an equalizer just before halftime before the teams played a scoreless second half for UNT's first draw of the season.
UNT is the only team in the conference yet to have played a conference game, and the Mean Green will look to get off to a good start in league play in San Antonio, where they are 3-2-0 all-time against the Roadrunners, who UNT holds an 8-5-1 all-time series advantage over.
UTSA (5-2-2, 1-0-0) got off to a good start in conference play with a 2-1 road win over Florida Atlantic on Thursday night. Five of the Roadrunners' nine matches this year have been decided by one goal and they have also played two scoreless draws this season - against Houston and Colorado College.
