Men's Basketball Announces 2025-26 Full Schedule

DENTON — The UNT men's basketball team's full 2025-26 schedule was announced on Thursday.
The Daniyal Robinson era at North Texas will officially begin on Nov. 3 at home when the Mean Green open the season against New Mexico Highlands. In total UNT will play 16 regular season home games at the Super Pit throughout the year, six in the first month of the season.
UNT will also host Louisiana in an exhibition on Oct. 29.
Six of North Texas' 13 non-conference opponents finished last season ranked in the top 125 of the NCAA NET, most notably Saint Mary's who won an NCAA Tournament game last season and ended ranked No. 21 in the NET. The Gaels have made four straight NCAA Tournaments and won at least one game in three of them. UNT faces SMC on Nov. 14 in Moraga, California.
Also featured on the Mean Green's non-conference schedule are away games against other name brand programs such as Loyola Chicago (Nov. 9), Oregon State (Nov. 12) and Santa Clara (Dec. 17). UNT has history against all three of those opponents, most recently beating the Beavers 58-55 at home last season. This will be the program's first-ever trip to Corvallis, Oregon.
This season the Mean Green will renew a couple longtime rivalries that haven't been played in over a decade.
On Dec. 7 the Mean Green will face TCU for the first time since 2004. The game will be played at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, all 2025-26 UNT men's basketball season ticket holders automatically receive tickets to the game as part of their package as an additional perk for being a loyal fan.
On Dec. 14 UNT travels to former Sun Belt Conference foe South Alabama. This will be the first time the two programs have played one another since the Mean Green left the league in 2013. The Jaguars won 21 games last year and a share of the 2025 SBC regular season title. They were the No. 1 overall seed in the 2025 Sun Belt Conference tournament.
North Texas, who was the league regular season runner up a year ago, will begin its American Conference 18-game slate begins on Dec. 31 with a road game at reigning league champ Memphis. The Mean Green will play their first home conference game on Jan. 4 against Tulsa.
UNT in total plays nine home conference games.
On Jan. 31 North Texas hosts UAB. The Mean Green executed an 18-point second half comeback to beat the Blazers on a buzzer beater last season at home.
UNT will welcome Memphis back to the Super Pit on Feb. 12 for the Tigers' first return trip to Denton in two seasons. North Texas beat Memphis 76-66 the last time the two teams played at the Super Pit.
The regular season concludes on March 4 with a home game against Rice at the Super Pit.
Following the end of the regular season the Mean Green will have at least a week off before the start of the 2026 American Men's Basketball Championship, which is taking on a new format and location this coming year.
Beginning this season, the 2026 American Men's Basketball Championship will feature the top 10 teams in a new five-day bracket format. The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds will advance directly to the semifinals, while the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds will maintain byes to the quarterfinals. The No. 5 and No. 6 seeds will receive byes to the second round. The 2026 Championship will run Wednesday through Sunday, March 11-15 at the Legacy Arena at the BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama.
First-year UNT head coach Daniyal Robinson was hired on April 4 and comes to Denton from Cleveland State where he had been the Vikings head coach for the last three seasons. He led the program to three straight 20-win seasons and three trips to national postseason tournaments. He won 65 games in his three seasons at CSU. His 65 total wins are the second-most among active head coaches with three years or less of head coaching experience.
