Huang Paces Mean Green on First Day of Argent Financial Classic

The sophomore sits in 10th place after shooting a 70
CHOUDRANT, La. – Sophomore Alex Huang posted a 2-under-par 70 to lead the UNT men's golf team in the first round of the Argent Financial Classic at Squire Creek Country Club Sunday afternoon.
Starting on the back nine, Huang tallied three birdies in his first nine holes and ended with five on the day to place himself in a tie for 10th on the individual leaderboard.
True freshman Mitchell Maier recorded a team high six birdies on the day, while carding a 1-over 73. Four birdies on the front nine helped the Richmond, Texas, native go 2-under through his final nine holes as he wrapped up his first collegiate round.
Central Arkansas transfer Kalle Svederman joined Maier, signing for a 73 while playing as an individual.
Joe Stover sits in 70th place after Sunday's round with a 3-over 75. Senior Noah Blaickner posted a 78 in his first round for the Mean Green. Meanwhile, sophomore Blake Keen will look to get back on track Monday after shooting 8-over in round one.
UNT will enter Monday's second round in 16th place in the team standings after a first-round score of 296. The Mean Green will get the second round underway between 7:30 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. Monday morning.
