WICHITA, Kansas — The UNT men's basketball team lost 78-67 at Wichita State Sunday afternoon.
The Mean Green (10-7, 1-3 American) forced the Shockers (10-7, 2-2 American) Sunday into a season high 18 turnovers — it's the fifth time in the last six games UNT has forced its opponent into a season high turnovers — but couldn't slow down WSU's Kenyon Giles who scored 33 points.
"Give Wichita a ton of credit," said North Texas head coach Daniyal Robinson. "They gave us their best shot. We had a bit of slippage in then first half that let them get a big lead but I'm proud of our team's fight to get back into it."
North Texas trailed by as many as 17 early in the second half but the Mean Green cut the deficit down to just six points with four minutes remaining.
However, just couldn't get the stops late to pull off the comeback win.
North Texas junior David Terrell Jr. finished with a career high 19 points. It comes just a few days after scoring 17 against South Florida.
UNT has a week off before they play next when they travel to Tulane on Sunday.
