Men's Basketball Hosts UAB In Hoops Doubleheader

DENTON – The UNT men's basketball team hosts UAB Saturday night in the second half of a Mean Green basketball doubleheader at the Super Pit with the North Texas women's basketball team.
The Mean Green (12-9, 3-5) and Blazers (13-8, 4-4) are scheduled to tip-off at 7 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield on KHYI 95.3 FM and on ESPNU. The North Texas women's basketball team hosts Florida Atlantic at 2 p.m. CT.
In between the doubleheader the UNT Mean Green Athletic Fund will host a basketball tailgate from 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. between gates A and B inside the Super Pit.
Following Saturday's game the Mean Green men's basketball team goes on a two-game road trip starting with at Rice on Wednesday and then at UTSA on Saturday.
UNT versus UAB
Saturday will be the 22nd all-time meeting between UNT and UAB but the 10th matchup in just the last three years. Since 2023, UNT and UAB have faced twice in a conference tournament and met in the 2023 NIT championship game, which UNT won 68-61.
The Last Time In Denton
The last time UNT and UAB played at the Super Pit in Denton was last season on Dec. 31, 2024, in what was the conference opener for both teams. UNT made an 18-point second half comeback capped off by an Atin Wright buzzer beating 3-pointer to win 78-75. Two of the last three UAB vs UNT meetings at the Super Pit have gone into overtime. Saturday will be exactly two years ago from the day from when UAB won 82-79 (OT) at the Super Pit.
Leads The Offense
Je'Shawn Stevenson enters Saturday having scored in double figures in 11 straight games. He last was held to less than 10 points on Dec. 7 versus TCU. Stevenson has scored in double figures in 19 of UNT's 21 games this year. He has scored 15+ in four straight games and in eight of the last nine games. The program record for most single season double digit scoring games is 33 by Tylor Perry in 2022-23.
