Divers Have Final Tuneup For Conference

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Four UNT divers went to Arkansas on Friday and Saturday for one final tuneup for the American Conference Championship next month.
Junior Sydney Guidara and sophomore Amelia Sharp both notched personal bests on the 1-meter springboard on Friday, finishing fourth and sixth, respectively with a 309.85 and 292.50, and Guidara led the way in the 3-meter competition on Friday with a sixth-place finish. On Saturday, Guidara competed in a 3-meter exhibition and scored a 349.15 - just shy of her program record. Sharp finished third in the platform competition on Saturday with a 207.45.
In Saturday's team event, the Mean Green were close to setting a new program record as Guidara, Sharp and senior Gabi Somoza totaled 298 points.
"It was a great weekend of diving," associate head coach and diving coach Stephanie O'Callaghan said. "Our team did an excellent job adjusting and adapting after a week of challenging weather leading into travel. We saw a lot of strong performances as we head toward the conference championships right around the corner...
