UNT Makes Double Digit Come Back At Temple To Win, 65-62

PHILADELPHIA – The UNT men's basketball team made a 12-point second half comeback to beat Temple on the road Sunday afternoon, 65-62, to win its third straight overall and second straight on the road.
It's the Mean Green's largest comeback win of the year.
North Texas (15-11, 6-7) trailed the Owls (15-10, 7-5) 40-28 with 14 minutes and 30 seconds left in the game. But the Mean Green's second unit step up in a major way down the stretch., led by freshman EJ Horton who matched his career high with 12 points, grabbed a career best four rebounds and snagged a career high five steals.
"It always takes a collective effort and today they embodied that big time," said UNT head coach Daniyal Robinson. "We got a great effort from our freshmen. They stepped up big. We had to have it today."
Along with Horton, fellow freshman Curtis Stinson Jr. scored six points and had six rebounds in the win over the Owls. Both Horton and Stinson had a career high in minutes played.
Also coming off the bench to make an impact Sunday was junior Buddy Hammer Jr. who matched his career high with nine points and had five rebounds. It's Hammer's second straight game with nine points.
In total the UNT bench outscored Temple's 30-18.
Next up the Mean Green will return to the Super Pit on Thursday to host Tulane.
